Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif took a strong stance against Israel, calling it a “curse on humanity” over its attacks on Lebanon. However, the situation escalated when Pakistan issued a provocative statement, which was later deleted.
Khawaja Asif removed a post from his X (formerly Twitter) account after Israel reacted angrily. This is not a common occurrence, as Pakistan often presents itself as a proponent of peace, yet here it used harsh language, labeling a country as a threat to humanity. In parliament, Asif also targeted India, stating that both India and Israel are enemies of Islamic countries.
This raises concerns, as Pakistan, which advocates for peace negotiations, is simultaneously using such aggressive rhetoric.
In response, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Asif’s remarks offensive and stated that such language would not be tolerated, further escalating tensions.
Recently, Pakistan had been actively trying to mediate peace between the United States and Iran. However, its different diplomatic approach toward Israel suggests growing friction between the two nations.
After realizing that his remarks could further provoke Israel, Khawaja Asif deleted the post from X.
