Israel is aggressively targeting Hezbollah and aims to completely eliminate the group, mainly because Hezbollah openly chants slogans like “Death to Israel.” Recently, Israel carried out heavy airstrikes on buildings in Lebanon, using around 100 missiles. These attacks reportedly killed 254 people.
Israel views Hezbollah similarly to Hamas. In the past, Hamas carried out attacks inside Israel, which led Israel to launch a ground operation in Gaza. Now, many believe Lebanon could face a similar situation.
At the same time, the United States is facing a major challenge regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Shortly after a ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran, tensions flared up again when Iran attacked Israel and reportedly moved to shut down the Strait of Hormuz. Iran wants to prevent any large-scale attack on Lebanon and avoid further escalation.
Donald Trump stated on Truth Social that if peace talks with Iran fail, the U.S. military is fully prepared, and the response would be unlike anything seen before. He also said that U.S. ships and forces will remain near Iran until a complete and lasting agreement is achieved.
Some people speculate that Trump might use nuclear weapons against Iran, but Trump himself clarified on Truth Social that no nuclear weapons will be used. Despite that, the U.S. will ensure the security of the Strait of Hormuz.
